TAIPEI, Taiwan - In order to increase the speed of 5G industry promotion and the development of innovative applications for the Internet of Things (IoT), FarEasTone together with the Department of Information Technology, Taipei City Government, and the Cloud and Computing & IoT Association in Taiwan on October 4 announced the launch of the “Neihu Smart Park 5G Trial Program,” and the establishment of Taiwan’s first “5G IoT Open Trial Field” in conjunction with “Taipei IoT Innovation Lab.” Beginning on October 4, 100 teams (including industry and academic units and startups) are eligible to apply for free trials of the 5G environment trial program for a period of three months with technology trials mainly based in the 5G trial field in order to promote innovative application services.

FarEasTone relies on advanced 5G technology and internet resources and is making use of Taipei’s Neihu Technology Park as their first trial field. Teaming up with Ericsson Taiwan, they have established a 5G 3.5GHz base station at the in the new experimental area in Neihu Sports Center in order to launch 5G networking and commence the Neihu Smart Park 5G Trial Program as well as provide 5G innovation experience solutions and accelerate the introduction of innovative ideas into commercial markets.

Taipei City Deputy Secretary-General Chen Chih-ming stated that currently the global 5G market is developing rapidly, and the “Neihu Smart Park 5G Trial Program” was created through the assistance of the Department of Economic Development and Smart Taipei together with FarEasTone and industry partners, fully demonstrating Taipei City Government’s determination to develop innovative applications.
